Our History: Leaving a Legacy
GIFT International Foundation was founded by the children and relatives of the late Samuel Addauan Tiam and his wife, Teofila Tumaliuan Tiam, to continue the family tradition of advancing human possibilities through early and college education and vocational training.
Samuel and Teofila were public employees in the Philippines throughout their professional lives. Samuel was a CPA who helped establish the Rural Banks of the Philippines under the auspices of the Philippine Central Bank. Before his passing, he served as a Bureau of Public Highways regional auditor in the General Auditing Office. Teofila was a school teacher, principal and district supervisor who retired early to join her children in the United Sates.
A Legacy of Education
Samuel and Teofila were the first members of their family to go to college, and their education afforded them the skills to provide for their family and be of service to others. They both firmly believed that the best inheritance a child can have is a good education — a legacy which no one can ever take away. On account of their passionate support for education, Samuel and Teofila donated the land on which the Bayombong West Elementary School campus is located.
A Tradition of Community
Over the years, GIFT International Foundation has also kept an ear and mind open to community-based needs and issues, thus its funding public health; elder nutrition and health initiatives; and the distribution of food, used clothing and shoes to low-income families in Nueva Vizcaya. We have also sent relief packages to victims of typhoons and floods in the provinces of Nueva Vizcaya, Isabela and Leyte. We have served as a pass-through agent for scholarship grants to college students in Legaspi City, Albay.
