On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the GIFT International Foundation, and most especially on behalf of the people we serve, our warmest wishes for a blessed and happy holiday season to you and your loved ones. Thank you for taking the time to review our website and learn about the work we do in Nueva Vizcaya. I hope that our work inspires you to think about how you can be of service to the communities and causes that are near to your heart, and that you consider supporting GIFT's work in the Philippines.
This was a year of new beginnings for GIFT. 2017 marks our ten-year anniversary. In 2018, we look forward to celebrating our achievements of the last ten years with you, as we look toward our next ten years. We began 2017 by honoring two of our founding members, Amadeo Tiam and Eletta Quiboloy, who stepped down from our Board of Trustees to get even more involved in the day-to-day work of the foundation and our partners in the Philippines. Their commitment and dedication, performed entirely in their "spare time" as they built our organization from the ground-up, is a shining example of what can be achieved when family and friends work together to support a worthy cause, and one another. We also continued to build GIFT's signature project, a feeding and wellness program for the seniors of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. We didn't know how it would work out when we started, but we believed that if we offered a healthy meal we would at least make a difference for someone for a day. We have learned that there is a critical need for providing nutritional support for seniors, and we've gained insight into the many other needs our elders have. As difficult as it is to learn that an elder in our community is not getting the nutrition, or healthcare, or incidental needs of daily living that many of us take for granted, as we get to know them better we are encouraged by the fact that there's a great deal we can do to help. Already the volunteers who work with us in Nueva Vizcaya have coordinated immunizations, health monitoring services, and access to public assistance and other public services. It turns out that the feeding program was the beginning. As we look to the future of this program, we can and must plan for new ways to improve the health, dignity, and quality of life of the people we serve. That was our 2017 and our first ten years, and we know what we're doing for the next ten. I hope you will join us. Thank you for your support and good wishes, and Happy Holidays!
