Thank you for taking the time to review our website and learn about the work we do in Nueva Vizcaya. I hope that our work inspires you to think about how you can be of service to the communities and causes that are near to your heart, and that you consider supporting GIFT's work in the Philippines.
This was a year of new beginnings for GIFT. 2017 marks our ten-year anniversary. In 2018, we look forward to celebrating our achievements of the last ten years with you, as we look toward our next ten years. We began 2017 by honoring two of our founding members, Amadeo Tiam and Eletta Quiboloy, who stepped down from our Board of Trustees to get even more involved in the day-to-day work of the foundation and our partners in the Philippines. Their commitment and dedication, performed entirely in their "spare time" as they built our organization from the ground-up, is a shining example of what can be achieved when family and friends work together to support a worthy cause, and one another. We also continued to build GIFT's signature project, a feeding and wellness program for the seniors of Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya. We didn't know how it would work out when we started, but we believed that if we offered a healthy meal we would at least make a difference for someone for a day. We have learned that there is a critical need for providing nutritional support for seniors, and we've gained insight into the many other needs our elders have. As difficult as it is to learn that an elder in our community is not getting the nutrition, or healthcare, or incidental needs of daily living that many of us take for granted, as we get to know them better we are encouraged by the fact that there's a great deal we can do to help. Already the volunteers who work with us in Nueva Vizcaya have coordinated immunizations, health monitoring services, and access to public assistance and other public services. It turns out that the feeding program was the beginning. As we look to the future of this program, we can and must plan for new ways to improve the health, dignity, and quality of life of the people we serve. That was our 2017 and our first ten years, and we know what we're doing for the next ten. I hope you will join us. Thank you for your support and good wishes, and Happy Holidays! Devon Tiam Chairman, Board of Trustees GIFT International Foundation On August 2, 2017, the Tiam Tumaliuan Foundation (TTF), our partner organization in the Philippines, received a certificate of recognition and thanks from the provincial government of Nueva Vizcaya for the senior feeding program. Due to its successful delivery of services, the senior feeding program is now recognized as an "Extension Nutrition Program" by the local and provincial governments. This means that the program is eligible to receive some supplies from the Provincial Social Welfare Office, when extra supplies are available. Not only is the program giving seniors much needed nutrition, health screening, preventative treatment, socialization, and fellowship, it helps to support the work of the provincial government and help identify persons in need who may otherwise be overlooked. Congratulations to the Tiam Tumaliuan Foundation, and thank you to the Province of Nueva Vizcaya!
Fely Wiedebush, Secretary of the GIFT International Foundation organized and hosted a garage sale/fundraiser at her house in Olympia, Washington to benefit the foundation.
